On the 14th of April 2010 An Bord Pleanala upheld planning permission for St. Colmcille’s Junior and Senior National Schools to construct a new 3 storey 64 classroom school building located in the approximate position of the existing Junior School main buildings. During the construction period, it is intended to relocate the Senior School students in a temporary prefabricated structure at Ballyboden St. Endas G.A.A. Grounds, Sancta Maria College, Ballyroan, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
It was great to see the enthusiastic clean up of the estate last weekend. From early morning people were out with shovels, bin bags, pickers and the big desire to get in at every bit of rubbish that has been dropped on, blown into or just showed up under hedges, behind walls and along our road ways. The Committee extends a great thanks to each and everyone of you and in particular to some of the younger participants whose hard work and good cheer inspired us all. Thanks also to the South Dublin County Council who came along a few days later and took away without charge the sum of all our hard work (the bagged junk) which we had deposited by the pathway leading out onto the Green Route.
A suggestion made on the day by our trusty treasurer was that we could arrange another outing specifically targeted at tidying up the landscaping of the area. I think that is a brilliant idea and now that most of the tins, bottles and rubbish has been lifted maybe we could aim to do this when we get a little closer to the Summer.
Just as an aside we still don’t have a firm date as to when the re-instatement of the green areas (after the the completion of the pipe laying). When we have more we’ll let you know.
On Saturday the 13th of March get ready to break out the polish and pull on the gloves as Boden Park is to be treated to a right Spring Clean. The Committee is currently making arrangements with South Dublin County Council to supply us with as many heavy duty bags and gloves as we can get our hands on in order to pile up, pack in and ship off the unsightly rubbish that is blighting our gorgeous estate. We’re still working on nailing down and exact start time and as soon as we have this firmed up we’ll post it here as well as let you all know through a leaflet run around the estate. We’d appeal to as many people as possible to turn out and help. Remember if we don’t clean the place ourselves no one else will.
Anyone interested in participating in the revitalised Boden Park Neighbourhood Watch scheme should pop along to the Ballyroan Boy’s School at 8:30 pm on Tuesday the 9th of March. The scheme itself aims to help improve community safety, prevent crime, develop Garda/community links, increase public confidence in An Garda Siochana, foster a caring environment for older and vulnerable people and to reduce anti-social behaviour.
In attendance will be local community Garda Kevin Drennan. As well as letting us know all about the scheme itself he’ll be open to any questions you might have so don’t be afraid to throw your hand up.
